Welcome to American Legion Post #27. We have been serving the people of South Milwaukee, and Southeastern Milwaukee County since 1919. As part of Americas largest veterans organization we offer you the opportunity to become involved with programs that help our youth, perform patriotic community service, assist our veterans, and assist our men, and women in uniform.
Our mission; the mission of the American Legion Department of Wisconsin is to provide service to veterans, their families, and their communities.
5 February 2017: American Legion Post 27 has partnered with the Department of Defense in honoring the service, and sacrifice of our Vietnam, and Vietnam Era veterans, and their families.
There are 5 key objects of this program, and our partnership.
To thank and honor veterans of the Vietnam War, including personnel who were held as prisoners of war or listed as missing in action, for their service and sacrifice on behalf of the United States and to thank and honor the families of these veterans.
To highlight the service of the Armed Forces during the Vietnam War and the contributions of Federal agencies and governmental and non-governmental organizations that served with, or in support of, the Armed Forces.
To pay tribute to the contributions made on the home front by the people of the United States during the Vietnam War.
To highlight the advances in technology, science, and medicine related to military research conducted during the Vietnam War.
To recognize the contributions and sacrifices made by the allies of the United States during the Vietnam War.
We are seeking veterans who served at least one day of active duty between November 1, 1955 – May 15, 1975, the surviving spouses of eligible veterans, or families who have a veteran listed on the Vietnam Wall in Washington D.C., to honor at a special program on Wednesday May 31, 2017.
